MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

DEADLINE: 9 September 2026, by 17:00

The European Commission has officially launched the 2026 call for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, a prestigious initiative designed to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD. This scheme supports individual excellence by encouraging researchers to diversify their skills through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral mobility.

The 2026 call includes European Fellowships, open to researchers of any nationality moving to or within Europe for a period of 12 to 24 months, and Global Fellowships, which last between 24 and 36 months. The latter allow European nationals or long-term residents to spend an outgoing phase in a third country before returning to Europe for a mandatory 12-month return phase. To be eligible, applicants must have a PhD degree at the time of the deadline and a maximum of 8 years of research experience from the date of the award. Additionally, the mobility rule applies, meaning candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Italy for more than 12 months in the three years immediately preceding the call deadline.

The University of Siena welcomes expressions of interest from high-profile candidates who wish to apply for a fellowship with our University as the Host Institution. We offer a stimulating research environment and dedicated support throughout the application process. Detailed information for prospective fellows and supervisors, including internal procedures and support tools, can be found on our dedicated portal: Unisi as Host Institution – Apply with us.
