EU LIFE Programme 2026: calls for proposals

DEADLINE: September 2026 (note: The programme includes a wide range of specific call topics. Applicants are encouraged to check the specific deadline for their chosen topic on the Funding & Tenders Portal).

Key reference date for Standard Action Projects (SAPs): 22 September 2026

The European Commission has launched the LIFE 2026 Calls for Proposals. In a period of global geopolitical instability and the ongoing energy crisis, this year’s calls support EU measures to increase competitiveness, close the innovation gap, and decarbonize the economy. With a total budget of €601.5 million, the programme targets innovative solutions that accelerate the green transition, reduce fossil fuel dependency, and bridge the gap between research and market-ready climate technologies.

The LIFE Programme is the EU’s flagship funding instrument for the environment and climate action. With a total budget of over €5.4 billion for 2021-2027, it has co-funded around 6,500 projects over the last 34 years. The programme is managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).

The 2026 calls cover several categories of projects:

  • Standard Action Projects (SAPs)
  • Other Projects (OPs) and Clean Energy Transition Coordination and Support Actions (CSAs)
  • Projects on Legislative and Policy Priorities (PLPs)
  • Strategic Nature Projects (SNaPs) and Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs)
  • Technical Assistance

The programme seeks innovative and best-practice projects with genuine potential to move from piloting and testing to practical, cost-effective application at scale.

Any legal entity based in the European Union or in countries associated with the LIFE Programme can apply. Applications can be submitted by a single organisation or by several entities working in collaboration. Please note that individuals are not eligible to apply.
