DEADLINE: 27 November, by 12:00
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) have launched a call for joint scientific proposals of “Particular Relevance” (Grande Rilevanza). The initiative aims to renew and strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Singapore for the 2027–2029 triennium.
The call supports joint research projects led by Italian Principal Investigators (PIs) in partnership with Singapore-based researchers, targeting two strategic priority areas:
-
Advanced Technologies: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Quantum Technologies, and Space Technologies.
-
Health and Medical Sciences: Healthy Aging, Translational Medicine, and Neuroscience.
Under the co-funding structure, the maximum grant requested from MAECI can cover up to 50% of the total Italian budget, with the remaining 50% co-financed by the Italian host institution. Average annual project costs for the Italian partner are estimated at around €100,000 per year (inclusive of institutional co-financing) over the 3-year project duration.
Bilateral applications must be drafted jointly by both Italian and Singaporean PIs and submitted in parallel to their respective national portals—via the MAECI PGR Platform in Italy and A*STAR iGrants in Singapore. Italian applicants are required to include a signed Letter of Endorsement from their University or Institution Legal Representative.
For full eligibility criteria, official guidelines, FAQ documents, and the endorsement letter template, please visit the official MAECI Calls Portal and the Italian Embassy in Singapore.
