Viserion, Siena University’s new joint research laboratory

The new “Viserion” joint research laboratory at the University of Siena has been established through a partnership between the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics and the company Hyperion.
The laboratory’s main objective is to develop techniques for processing multitemporal, multiresolution and multisensory data, signals and images for applications in the protection and safety of property and persons, for wellbeing, as well as for environmental monitoring and the management of levels of health and decency.
Viserion joins the 14 other joint research laboratories currently operating at the University of Siena.
These are based on a shared research proposal between stakeholders that pool know-how and resources, creating a meeting place, both physical and virtual, to produce novel results and facilitate the acquisition of new investments for research and development.
Joint research laboratories are established through an agreement between the University and project partners that delineates the essential features of the initiative. The public/private lab partners undertake to support the project through annual funding.
