Description
The CARES project aims to develop a comprehensive solution for monitoring and inspection of energy infrastructures, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The project involves the development of an innovative system for the inspection and monitoring of energy infrastructure, capable of detecting and preventing potential problems, reducing the risk of accidents and quantifying greenhouse gas emissions, such as methane. The monitoring and inspection system will be based on computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies, integrated with a fleet of ground and air robots, together with an advanced sensor system and remote sensing that will also make use of satellite imagery. The system will be able to detect and classify anomalies during autonomous inspections, as well as monitor methane emissions. This proposal focuses on the creation of an efficient and precise monitoring and inspection system, which can be used to improve the safety and efficiency of the energy industry. The CARES project contributes to achieving the strategic mission “Towards Carbon Neutrality in Tuscany” of the “Environment and Energy” application area, addressing the problem of detecting and quantifying leaks and greenhouse gas emissions through the creation of an automatic, efficient and precise inspection system for energy infrastructures.
