On 25 May 2026, starting at 9:30, the Aula Magna of the University of Siena’s Rectorate will host the third edition of the University Research Day (GI-RA). This institutional event serves as the primary platform for showcasing and sharing the research projects developed across all scientific areas and the 14 Departments of the University, emphasizing the value of discovery as a driver of progress.

The core of the day will be dedicated to presenting research initiatives with a strong innovative character, with a specific focus on the practical application of results. In this context, projects launched under two strategic funding programs will be highlighted: “NEW FRONTIERS”, which supports high-risk research capable of introducing disruptive innovations in their respective fields, and “INTERDX”, which promotes initiatives characterized by strong interdisciplinarity through collaboration between faculty members from different scientific backgrounds.

This edition is further distinguished by two high-profile international keynote speeches. The morning session will feature James A. Robinson, Professor at the University of Chicago and 2024 Nobel Laureate in Economics, who will deliver a lecture titled “Wealth in People”. Following this, the perspective will shift toward market dynamics with a talk by Claudia Pingue, Head of the Technology Transfer Fund at CDP Venture Capital, who will explore the role of technology transfer as a fundamental strategic lever for the development of innovation.

The GI-RA initiative was established not only to foster internal dialogue among researchers but, more importantly, to build a bridge with the business community and institutional stakeholders. In an era where global challenges demand rapid, science-based responses, the University of Siena reaffirms the importance of research as a key element for economic growth, sustainable development, and social well-being.
