ERC Consolidator Grant 2024 call is open until December 12, 2023
On 14 September the European Research Council (ERC) officially published the ERC Consolidator Grant 2024 call.
ERC Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent researchers at the stage of their career where they want to consolidate their team or independent research.
The call is therefore open to researchers of any nationality who have demonstrated their maturity (for example with a significant scientific track record) and with 7-12 years of experience since obtaining the doctorate.
Proposers will therefore have to demonstrate the feasibility and innovative and ambitious nature of their scientific research proposal. For the ERC Consolidator Grant 2024 call, no predetermined priorities are defined and applicants will have to apply for the Grant together with the host institution (university or research center based in the EU or a country associated with the program) which will manage the funding for the entire duration of the project.
The maximum contribution expected for each Consolidator Grant is equal to 2,000,000 euros for 5 years. In specific cases, additional funds (maximum 1,000,000 euros) may be assigned to the research project.

ERC Starting grant is also open until October 24, 2023
Researchers of any nationality with 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal can apply.
Applications can be made in any field of research. The ERC’s grants operate on a ‘bottom-up’ basis without predetermined priorities.. Research must be conducted in a public or private research organisation (known as a host institution/HI). It could be the HI where the applicant already works, or any other HI located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries.
More information is on the reference web page.
ERC Synergy Grant is also open until November 8
A group of two to maximum four Principal Investigators (PIs) working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems. One will be designated as the corresponding PI (cPI).
No specific eligibility criteria regarding the academic training are foreseen for ERC Synergy Grants.
PIs must present an early achievement track-record or a ten-year track-record, whichever is most appropriate.
Proposals are evaluated on the sole criterion of scientific excellence which takes on the additional meaning of outstanding intrinsic synergetic effect.
More information is on the reference web page.
Applications for an ERC grant require a single Principal Investigator (PI) to submit the application on behalf of their host institution.
Applications can be made in any field of research.
