Description
ACROSS – Adaptive Camouflage foR sOldierS and veihcleS proposal aims to push the undergoing technological effort addressing adaptive camouflage for protection of land systems (soldiers and platforms). ACROSS will develop multispectral, adaptive camouflage solutions that are able to adapt to the aforementioned scenarios. Research will focus on a combination of innovative and current technologies using disruptive materials to achieve protection in the multiple spectral ranges. Moreover, ACROSS will develop adaptive camouflage techniques and devices that are able to adapt their signatures to the background, to the surveillance sensors (mainly when active), different weather and daytime conditions and threat level hence reducing the ranges of detection, tracking, recognition and identification increasing the survivability of soldiers and platforms. The project brings together 19 partners from 9 EU countries with the main goal of developing disruptive technologies and solutions for adaptive camouflage. The project will foster critical mass of cross-border collaborations by joining different key actors strengthening and improving the agility of both defence supply and value chains, widening cross-border cooperation between legal entities and fostering the better exploitation of the industrial potential of innovation, research and technological development, at each stage of the industrial lifecycle of defence products and technologies. ACROSS is fully aligned with the expected impacts of the call as well as with the Capability Deployment Plan (CDP) developed by the European Defence Agency (EDA). Overarching Strategic Research Agenda (OSRA) results, including several Technology Building Blocks. ACROSS project will contribute to fill the technical gaps directly related with the enhancement of the protection of the forces and the individual soldier equipment.
