The European Commission has launched a new digital self-assessment tool based on the 39 competences of ResearchComp.
It is designed to help researchers easily identify their proficiency level (and potential skills gaps) in each of the 7 competence areas through a dynamic multiple-choice questionnaire.
The primary objective of ResearchComp is to support the development of researchers’ transversal skills to promote cross-sector careers across all sectors: academia, industry, public administration, and non-profit organizations.
The tool was developed by the European Commission in close consultation with stakeholders, implementing the new European Research Area and the Skills Agenda and contributing to the European Year of Skills.
The framework is structured as follows: it is built around 7 competence areas and 39 competences, detailed across 4 levels of proficiency (Fundamental, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert).
ResearchComp establishes a common language and understanding of researchers’ transversal skills and can be used, on a voluntary basis, by a variety of stakeholders:
- Researchers
- Universities, research organizations and training providers
- Employers
- Political leaders
