“THE – Tuscany Health Ecosystem” aims at boosting and supporting the growth and consolidation of the life sciences ecosystem of Tuscany, a major scientific and economic sector of the region. The partners are the main regional research organisations of the field, and will provide the required critical mass, expertise, infrastructures, connections and integration to address the innovation needs of the relevant stakeholders, such as companies and the regional health system.
Spoke 5 has the role of implementing innovation for healthcare and well-being, IPR strategy for research results valorization, and market analysis. The partners involved are UNIPR, UNISI, UNIFI (spoke leader and Hub), CNR, UNISTRASI, TLS, and DIH.
The UNISI Departments involved in Spoke 5 are DISAG, DISPOC, and DIISM. The impact of THE research program will be relevant in clinical practice through the identification of novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for oncologic and non-oncologic diseases.
The project will foster the synergistic development of medical and technological skills, with cooperation between research groups of Tuscany universities and private research groups, aiming to ensure technology transfer and exploitation of research results.
In particular, the activity of UNISI Spoke 5 members has contributed to:

1. Mapping firms to analyse the evolution of the LS regional ecosystem;
2. Mapping LS research activity and patents at regional level;
3. Analysing industry-university labs in LS sectors;
4. Implementing new VR solutions for LS firms.
