The Research Development Plan (RDP) 2024 promotes the development of research at the University through five funding formulas:

F- DIP, a fund to support the research policies planned by the Departments, which takes into account and supports the annual planning, also providing the basic tools for research

F-RUNNERS UP, a fund to encourage competitive design by rewarding UniSi researchers who are “runners-up” in national and international calls for proposals

F-NEW FRONTIERS, fund to promote ground-breaking projects by UniSi researchers under 45

F-INTERDX, a fund to promote strongly interdisciplinary research by UniSi researchers under 45 from different areas

F-OPEN ACCESS: a fund to increase the dissemination of scientific  research by promoting open access publications

 

Basically,

  • F-DIP is the funding formula that distributes funds to the University’s 14 Departments according to the number of teaching staff and the quality of research in the 2015-2019 period.

Budget: 600,000 Euros.

 

  • F-RUNNERS UP UP is the fund set up to reward the efforts of those researchers who participated in national and international projects and received positive evaluations but not the expected funding.
    In particular, preference is accorded to outstanding results achieved in the context of ERC and Italian Science Fund calls.

Budget: 250,000 Euros

 

  • The call for proposals F-NEW FRONTIERS 2024 aims to fund high-risk research projects that introduce significant innovation in the various fields of research.
    It supports research activities carried out by young, category RT(a), RT(b), RT(i) or RTT researchers at the University of Siena who are under 45 years of age.
    Resources are divided among four areas: SH – Social Sciences, SH – Humanities, LS – Life Sciences, PE – Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Information and Communication, Engineering, Earth and Universe Sciences).

Budget for projects: 400,000 Euros

 

  • The F-INTERDX 2024 call for proposals aims to fund research projects with a strongly interdisciplinary character conducted by researchers from different areas.
    It supports research activities carried out by young professors and professors, researchers and researchers of the University of Siena classified as RT(a), RT(b) or RT(i) or RTT of the University
    of Siena who are under 45 years of age..

Budget for projects: 200,000 Euros

 

  • F-OPEN ACCESS is the fund that promotes and supports the open access publication of monographs, collections, conference proceedings or journal articles.
    This budget is also used to promote the creation of journals or series by the Siena University Press, USiena Press.
    All members of the Unisi scientific community are eligible for funding. Lecturers and post-doctoral fellows can apply directly, whereas postgraduate and postdoctoral students, doctoral researchers and those  recently awarded a PhD can do so via the former. Funding will only be granted following the positive outcome of the peer-review process and acceptance by the publisher.

Budget: 100,000 Euros
